News: A Night of Horror Film Festival

A Night of Horror International Film Festival brings the world's best and bloodiest genre cinema to Sydney.

Sydney, Australia, March 26, 2008 - With Sydney's A Night of Horror International Film Festival just one week away, festival directors Dr. Dean Bertram and Lisa Mitchell promise Sydney horror fans that they are in for ten nights of fright-filled entertainment.

This year the festival is screening 8 feature films (all of which are Australian premieres), and 40 shorts. The extensive line-up includes terrifying films from a dozen different countries.

The festival is also hosting a number of special events including: an "Undead Rockabilly Dance" opening night party; a "Zombie Walk" on Saturday April 5 from Victoria Park to Dendy Newtown; and a special pre-festival event - "How to make an award winning short horror film" - which is taking place at the Mu-Meson Archives on Wednesday night April 2.

According to festival director Dr. Bertram "the special event next Wednesday will showcase the work of three accomplished horror filmmakers from Sydney. These directors have had their films screened at dozens of festivals around the world and they will be taking questions and giving advice after the screening regarding the ins-and-outs of filmmaking in the genre."

Lisa Mitchell adds, "Everyone at the fest wants to see more horror films made by local talent. We're hoping that this forum will give aspiring Sydney filmmakers enough inspiration and know-how to kick start their first horror film".

The festival runs from April 3 to April 11 at the Dendy Cinema, Newtown.

Tickets are on sale now, and more details are available at the festival’s official website:
